Unbelievable

Ever since I studied in Stuttgart I have tried to convince my father to come visit me. I was and still am certain that he would love the trip. My mother and brother have since visited me multiple times in multiple cities. Today, I am happy to announce that after years of effort, both my mother and father will be visiting us this autumn.

When we were in the Black Forest the other weekend, I said something like, “you know, dad would really enjoy this” for the umpteenth time. This is when a light went off in Elise’s head and her instinctual planning skills kicked into high gear. A few phone calls and two weeks of worry later, we have the dates set and the tickets booked. It is really happening.

I have to give a special thanks to my brother of whom I had to call in a favor. I think his heart-to-heart discussion with dad really helped sell him on the idea.

It’s hard to believe, even as Elise and I lay out an itinerary that they will both be here in a few months. We are looking forward to it and are very excited.
