Ich bin der Christoph aus Tirol

Knowing how much we enjoyed our last vacation to Austria and remembering how much it brought us, we thought that it was time to return to Austria for another relaxing week of hiking in the mountains, this time to celebrate our anniversary.

On our last trip we spent time in the Vorarlberg region near Bregenz and had a remarkable vacation. However we wanted to experience something new so Elise found an out of the way corner in the Wipptal region of Tyrol south of Innsbruck and barely on the Austrian side of the Italian border.

It was still the low season as not all of the mountain huts which normally serve weary hikers in need of respite and repast were yet open and a lot of the cable cars we also not running regularly. Despite that we loved the fact that there was no traffic and the sites as well as hiking trails were sparsely populated by tourists. Talking to the people from whom we rented the holiday apartment, we found out that the region never gets terribly busy with tourists as the other typical destinations such as Kitzbühl take most of the tourists. A wonderful reason to return.

In the end it was another week of, great hiking, alpine vistas, mountain lakes, ancient monasteries, and of course great food. Not a bad way to celebrate our many wonderful years together.
