Team-Building

I don’t often write about work because although I do really like my job and my company, I feel that most of life happens outside of the office. However that does not mean that work is not rewarding or has its moments, though not many of them are photogenic. However this year’s team excursion was not only a lot of fun, but also offered some amazing views. I am grateful to work with some fantastic people and for a great company that understands the value of its employees. And they really hit it out of the park with this year’s junket.

We took off by bus from Basel to Locarno on Lake Maggiore in Italian Switzerland and had an afternoon of fun activities with hiking, paddle-boarding on the lake, beach volleyball, or cycling as our options. Having not hiked in the Alps for far too long, the choice was clear. Taking a funicular, gondola, and finally a chairlift to the trail head, we made our way far above the timber line for some amazing views over the lake and of the Alps at about 1800 meters (about 6000 feet).

The next day we had some team-building games on the shore of the lake. There was a combination of carnival games, lawn games, and grade-school gym class, which was surprisingly a lot of fun. And you know what they say: having fun is more important than winning. And we won too. So that’s pretty great.
