Dissonance

I am quite often amazed how a country such as Germany, with such a rich and extensive history of classical music can today demonstrate such utterly awful taste in modern music.  German television is replete with examples of what I surmise to be a drunken monkey lobbing darts at a target covered with the names of popular bands from the past thirty years in order to determine the soundtrack of the latest reality show.

3² + 1

About two and a half years ago, Elise and I commissioned a painting by the director of our office, Thorsten.  This weekend he invited us over for dinner and the unveiling.  After so much time had passed, I really had no idea what to expect.  All of the suggestions that I had made for theme and color combinations were irrelevant since the approach had changed a couple of times.

Un-Phuct

Last Sunday the hosting service that serves up our website was hacked and vandalized.  It came back up on Monday, but they were unable to restore the index pages.  I was traveling for the week so I have just been able to restore the sight to its former glory.

We have been living in our current digs for some years now. The other evening as I was preparing dinner, I had the balcony door open and was enjoying the fresh summer air when I heard the neighbors on their balcony talking. It was at this point that I began reflecting on the fact that after all of this time we have befriended none of the neighbors. Goal sustained.
