We had been wanting to meet up with our friends Thorsten and Verena for a while and as luck would have it, Verena chose a hiking route on Kaiserstuhl, one of our favorite regions in Germany on the edge of the Black Forest, where we enjoyed the most beautiful, golden autumn afternoon.
Though we have not forgotten how much fun it can be to host friends and family, it was still surprising just how much joy we get in playing tour guide as it was with my cousin Jeanene and her husband Deavron traveling around Switzerland, Germany, and France.
We love hiking and enjoying the amazing vistas the Black Forest offers a person willing to explore. At times we have also traveled some of the forest by rail. This trip, we were able to combine the two by taking the Black Forest Railway hiking trail.
I like wine. Elise however is a true enthusiast. And though we have spent time in the vineyards of France, South Africa, and Baden, we had never been to Germany’s most famous wine region: the Mosel valley. We decided to finally rectify this situation.
