Dave was good enough to come visit us during spring, which is possibly the best time to visit Germany. He had just wrapped up his second degree and was ready for a well-deserved break. What better way than to leave it all behind and visit his brother?
Elise and I took this opportunity to plan a trip to the island of Rügen on the Baltic Sea coast, which neither of us had ever visited. Also, it was great opportunity for me since I have actually never been to Berlin, and neither has Dave. No matter how often Elise forgets (“haven’t you ever been to Berlin?”), I had not yet had the opportunity to visit the capital city. And of course, I could not have Dave come visit us in Karlsruhe without spending some time in the Black Forest.
Our trip focused mainly on the Black Forest, Berlin, and Rügen, but since Dave is a geologist, he did his homework and found an ancient history museum not far from Stuttgart where we also spent a day.
