This spring seems to be a time of reunions. We were able to see Carl in Stockholm a few weeks back, just the other weekend Abe took us around Kosovo, and this past weekend, I was able to meet up with Natalie in Cologne.
It is not that often when we travel that we are immersed in something completely new or foreign. We were therefore very excited when an old friend of mine invited us to visit him in Kosovo where he recently relocated.
Nearly ten years ago, we were fortunate enough to be invited to Carl’s wedding. Last weekend, nearly ten years after the wedding, we enjoyed a lunch together with a stunning view of the old town of Stockholm and that familiarity and connection hadn’t diminished. But where had the ten years gone?
This year for our regular escape from winter we boarded the plane truly ignorant of our destination of Costa Rica, but quickly learned about this fascinating, friendly, and colorful country. Discovery truly is bliss.
We continued our yearly tradition of celebrating the new year with our dear friends Thorsten and Verena, but this year Elise discovered a torchlit forest hike to an Alsatian castle ruin where we toasted the arrival of midnight with champagne around a bonfire. Happy 2018!
We had been wanting to meet up with our friends Thorsten and Verena for a while and as luck would have it, Verena chose a hiking route on Kaiserstuhl, one of our favorite regions in Germany on the edge of the Black Forest, where we enjoyed the most beautiful, golden autumn afternoon.
