Irish Distillers (Pernod Ricard)
This is my first foray into Irish whiskey and I must say that it did not disappoint. Actually, I tried this back in the summer when I was in Dublin on business. A client was nice enough to take me out for a nice dinner and instead of opting for a coffee to round it out, I took the advice of my client and tried Jameson. According to her the regular Jameson didn’t do much for her, but she really liked the 12 year. And I really liked it too. It was a bit of a change as it is sweeter than I am used to. Though I have had a few sweet whiskies in the past. The Jameson is richer in its sweetness. It is beyond caramelly, more of a molasses in its depth and complexity. But like a dark molasses, it isn’t terribly sweet.
